Terms of Service
Effective October 15, 2026
These terms govern services provided by BTU Consulting, Inc. ("BTU Consulting," "we") and use of btuconsultingfl.us. A signed proposal, work order, or maintenance agreement for your job is part of these terms; if they conflict, the signed document controls.
1. Services
We provide HVAC diagnostics and repair, system replacement and installation, maintenance plans, duct design and sealing, indoor air quality equipment, and home and light-commercial energy audits. Installations are performed under applicable permits. Electrical work beyond the HVAC equipment circuit, mold assessment, and structural work are outside our scope and may be referred to appropriately licensed professionals.
2. Diagnostic fees and quotes
- Service visits carry a flat diagnostic fee, disclosed when you book. It is credited toward a repair approved during the same visit.
- All repairs and installations are quoted in writing before work begins. We will not exceed an approved quote without your written approval.
- Replacement proposals are valid for 30 days. Equipment availability and manufacturer price changes may require an updated proposal after that.
3. Payment
- Repairs are due on completion.
- Installations require a deposit stated in the proposal, with the balance due on completion and passing of any required inspection.
- Maintenance plans are billed annually or in monthly installments as selected at enrollment.
- Third-party financing is provided by independent lenders, subject to their approval and terms.
4. Warranties
- Repairs: 90-day labor warranty on the specific repair performed.
- Installations: 2-year labor warranty, plus the manufacturer's parts warranty when the equipment is registered (we register it for you).
- Warranties do not cover damage from power surges, lightning, flooding, lack of maintenance, clogged filters or drains after our visit, pests, or alterations by others.
5. Energy audits and estimates
Audit reports, load calculations, and efficiency estimates are based on measurements and accepted methods but are estimates. Actual energy use and savings depend on weather, utility rates, occupant behavior, and other factors outside our control. We do not guarantee specific savings.
6. Customer responsibilities
Provide safe access to equipment, attics, and electrical panels; secure pets; and tell us about known hazards. Replace filters as recommended between visits. Attic access must be safe; we may decline work in unsafe conditions.
7. Existing conditions
We are not responsible for pre-existing conditions we discover — such as corroded wiring, undersized ducts, or code issues in the existing installation — but we will report them to you and quote corrections separately.
8. Scheduling
We aim to arrive within the scheduled window and will call if we're delayed. Missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may result in a trip charge, as stated when booking.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, such as spoiled food, lost income, or hotel costs, except where Florida law does not allow this limitation.
10. Complaints and disputes
Contact support@btuconsultingfl.us or (352) 489-6237. We acknowledge complaints within one business day and provide a written resolution within 10 business days. If not resolved within 30 days, both parties agree to try good-faith mediation in Marion County, Florida before filing suit, except for small claims matters.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Florida law. Venue for any proceeding is Marion County, Florida.
12. Website
Calculators and guides on this website are for general education. They are not a substitute for an on-site load calculation or professional assessment.
